Quick answer

Most commercial vehicles branded in Dubai require RTA vehicle-advertising approval before installation, and some vehicle categories additionally require CID or municipality clearance. Wecare prepares the artwork, layout drawings and vehicle photographs for submission and guides you through the process for your emirate and vehicle category. Approval charges, documents and processing times are set by the authority and can change.

Does branding need approval?

Does vehicle branding require approval in Dubai?

In most cases, yes. Commercial vehicle advertising in Dubai is regulated by the RTA, with additional clearance required from the CID or municipality for certain vehicle categories and content. Requirements depend on the vehicle category, the trade licence of the business and the emirate of registration. Wecare confirms the current requirement per project — rules can change and we do not present ourselves as a government authority.

Vehicle branding artwork prepared for approval

Compliant artwork is the foundation of a smooth submission. Wecare designs branding with the authority's guidance in mind — safety-zone clearance, legibility of the trade name, avoidance of restricted content and clean overlay of licence details. Every layout is prepared at the correct scale for the exact vehicle model.

Documents commonly required for an application

The exact list depends on the authority and vehicle category. A typical application includes:

  • Vehicle registration card (mulkiya)
  • Business trade licence
  • Design layout showing the proposed branding on the vehicle model
  • Recent photographs of the vehicle from multiple angles
  • Completed authority application form

Additional documents may be requested by the reviewing authority.

RTA vehicle advertising approval support

For Dubai-registered vehicles, the RTA vehicle-advertising route is the most common. Wecare prepares the layout and documents to the current RTA format and guides you through the submission. Timelines and any charges are set by the RTA and can change.

CID approval and vehicle registration considerations

Certain vehicle categories, or branding content in categories that trigger additional review, may require Dubai Police / CID clearance in addition to RTA approval. Wecare will confirm at the start of the project whether CID clearance applies to your vehicle and prepare the additional documentation if required.

Approval support for different vehicle types

Passenger cars, light commercial vans, heavy trucks, buses, motorcycles and specialised vehicles may fall under different sub-rules or forms. We confirm the specific route for your vehicle category and prepare the correct documentation set. Dubai-registered and other UAE-registered vehicles

Vehicles registered in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain follow the requirements of the relevant emirate's transport authority or municipality. Fleet projects that span multiple emirates require separate submissions for each authority — Wecare coordinates these in parallel.

Vehicle branding approval process

  1. 1. Requirement confirmation. We confirm the vehicle category, emirate and current authority requirements.
  2. 2. Document collection. Mulkiya, trade licence and vehicle photographs.
  3. 3. Layout preparation. Compliant artwork drafted at the correct scale for the vehicle model.
  4. 4. Submission. Application submitted to the authority with the full document set.
  5. 5. Review and any changes. If the authority requests changes, we update the artwork or documents and resubmit.
  6. 6. Approval on file. Once the authority issues approval, printing and installation can proceed.

Government charges and other possible fees

Authority charges are set by the government and payable to the authority. They are separate from Wecare's design, printing and installation fees. Any inspection, testing or other administrative fees imposed by the authority are also passed through at cost. We do not publish authority fee figures on this page because they can change; we share the current fee at the time of your project.
